Shraddha Kapoor overtakes Priyanka; becomes 5th highest-grossing Bollywood actor
Shraddha Kapoor, who has been basking in the success of her recent release Stree 2, has now surpassed fellow actor, Priyanka Chopra Jonas in terms of cumulative lifetime collections of her films. With a total collection of ₹1,638.77cr, Kapoor has secured the fifth spot in the list of most powerful female actors, trailing behind Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Alia Bhatt, per a report by Bollywood Hungama.
Kapoor's success without the 'Khan' factor
What sets Kapoor apart from her contemporaries is her ability to deliver box office hits without being paired with the three influential Khans of Bollywood. This unique achievement has been acknowledged by trade veteran Taran Adarsh, who stated, "She's very, very popular and her popularity has contributed (to the hype around Stree 2). She is also very non-controversial. I have not heard a single controversy about her or that she was in the news for the wrong reasons."
Kapoor's smart film choices and limited public appearances
Producer and film business analyst Girish Johar observed, "She is hand-picking her films very smartly. Also, she is not seen in a lot of events. Hence, she is a mix of Ranbir Kapoor and Aamir Khan. Even Ranbir is not seen all the time and selects his films wisely." He further added that it doesn't matter if some viewers complained about her lesser screen time in Stree 2.
Kapoor's performance in 'Stree 2' pushed box office collection
Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is the follow-up to the 2018 hit Stree, starring Rajkummar Rao and Kapoor. On its 11th day, the horror comedy earned ₹44 crore at the box office, according to Sacnilk. The film's total collection has now reached ₹386.15 crore, bringing it closer to the ₹400-crore milestone. The sequel also features Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi.
