Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar begin shooting for 'Badhaai Do'
Badhaai Do, a comedy-drama starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, went on floors on Tuesday. The film is a sequel to the National Award-winning hit, Badhaai Ho!. Badhaai Do is directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni, who helmed the Gulshan Devaiah-starrer comedy Hunterrr (2015). The upcoming film is written by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial, who had co-written Badhaai Ho!.
'Badhaai Do' marks the first collaboration between Rao and Pednekar
In an Instagram story, Pednekar shared an image from the first day of the shoot in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. "Poori team ko #BadhaaiDo (Congratulate the entire team). To new beginnings!" the 31-year-old actor wrote. Badhaai Do is the first time Rao, who plays a police officer, will be seen alongside Pednekar, who plays a PT teacher in the film.
'Badhaai Ho!' had won two National Awards
Badhaai Ho! chronicled the story of a middle-aged couple, played by Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao, facing an unexpected pregnancy. The 2018 film, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Surekha Sikri, and Sanya Malhotra, was directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. It had won two National Awards - Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Supporting Actress for Sikri for her role as the cantankerous matriarch.
Pednekar and Rao's other projects
Rao is awaiting the release of The White Tiger on Netflix on January 22. Based on Aravind Adiga's novel by the same name, it also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Adarsh Gourav. His Roohi Afzana, a comedy-horror flick, is also expected to release in 2021. Meanwhile, Pednekar was last seen in Durgamati on Amazon Prime and Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare on Netflix.
