Salman's case: Man detained for booking cab under Lawrence's name
Following the arrest of two suspects in the Salman Khan firing incident, the Mumbai Crime Branch has detained a 20-year-old man, Rohit Tyagi, from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, reported ANI. Tyagi is accused of booking a cab under the name of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from Khan's residence to Bandra Police Station. The unsettling incident occurred outside Khan's Bandra home on April 14, where multiple gunshots were fired into the air early morning before the suspects fled.
Tyagi will be in custody for two days
According to the report, Tyagi will be in the custody of Bandra Police for two days. Meanwhile, News 18 reported that four teams from the crime branch have been dispatched to New Delhi, Bihar, Gujarat, and Rajasthan to investigate the matter. Earlier, Anmol Bishnoi—brother of Lawrence—claimed responsibility for the attack. Mumbai Police sources suggest that the attack was orchestrated by Bishnoi's gang and executed by Rohit Godara, a member of the Bishnoi gang in Rajasthan.
Details on alleged shooters and payment scheme
The alleged shooters, Vicky Sahab Gupta (24) and Sagar Shrijogendra Pal (21)—arrested on April 16—were reportedly paid an advance of ₹1 lakh by Anmol for the shooting. An additional ₹3 lakh was promised upon completion. Anmol—currently allegedly residing in Canada—was in contact with the duo through internet calls. The accused were apprehended after they activated their phones to communicate with Anmol. Police are now working to identify the weapon supplier and have issued a look-out circular for Anmol.
Intentions behind the incident
Following the arrest of Pal and Gupta—the two accused from Bihar—were presented in court. The duo allegedly aimed to intimidate Khan. Mumbai Crime Branch officials informed, "They intended to just scare him and not murder him. The statements of both families have been recorded in Bihar. Around 7 people have been called from Haryana and other states for questioning, questioning is going on." The suspects had also reportedly surveyed Khan's Panvel farmhouse before the shooting.
Khan to provide statement as a witness in this incident
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Crime Branch will be recording a statement from the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star as a witness in the case. Additionally, reports revealed that when Mumbai Police contacted Khan, he reportedly expressed anger and concern, particularly about the security of his family. He also questioned the authorities, expressing disbelief at how the incident occurred despite the heavy security measures in place.
