'Vedaa' trailer: Sharvari-John are here to uproot caste-class hierarchies
The trailer of the upcoming film Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari, is finally out! The film, which recently secured a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), also stars Tamannaah Bhatia, Abhishek Banerjee, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Kshitij Chauhan. It is helmed by Kal Ho Naa Ho fame Nikkhil Advani and will be released on August 15.
The trailer deviates from run-of-the-mill storylines
The trailer starts with the Yada Yada... quote from the Bhagavad Gita, positioning Abraham's character as a "protector" who will be at the forefront each time "evil" rises. High-octane action, fights, hand-to-hand combat, and commentary on social evils like the caste hierarchy and untouchability also find a place in the well-cut trailer. The film looks like a modern spin on the tale of Krishna-Arjun, with Abraham being the mentor and "saarthi" who grooms Vedaa, Sharvari's character.
Earlier, 'Vedaa' faced issues in receiving clearance from CBFC
Before the clearance, there were complications between the creators of Vedaa and the CBFC. On July 25, Advani voiced his concerns about an "unusual delay" in obtaining certification on Instagram. He stated, "Our film was screened for the CBFC on June 25...we were advanced to a revising committee review without any explanation as to what the esteemed examining committee's concerns or objections were." Now, things are finally on track for its Independence Day release.
'Vedaa' will battle it out with multiple movies
The movie will vie for box office success against Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2. While the former is a comedy entertainer and also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, and Aditya Seal, the latter, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Banerjee, and Rajkummar Rao, is a horror-comedy. It is a sequel to the acclaimed film Stree.
