Karan Johar announces 'Bedhadak', to mark star-kid Shanaya Kapoor's debut
Bollywood producer and director Karan Johar announced a new film, Bedhadak, on Thursday, which will be headlined by newcomers. It will mark the debut of Shanaya Kapoor, the daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor and jewelry designer Maheep Kapoor. Lakshya Lalwani and Gurfateh Singh Pirzada are the other two actors who will debut with this film. Johar did not attach any release date to Bedhadak.
Here's what Johar said of the film
While announcing the film, Johar said, "We're bringing to you a new era of love - one that's filled with passion, intensity & boundaries that will be crossed...#Bedhadak!" He added that the Bollywood film will be directed "by the exceptional" Shashank Khaitan (Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Dhadak). To note, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania had marked the directorial debut of Khaitan.

This is what Johar said of Kapoor
Kapoor's character in Bedhadak will be called Nimrit. Talking about her, Johar said, "Introducing the gorgeous Shanaya Kapoor as Nimrit in Bedhadak. An enchanting force to look out for, I can't wait to see the energy she brings onto the screen." Meanwhile, Kapoor said, "I'm extremely grateful and humbled to join the Dharma Family with Bedhadak - directed by the brilliant Shashank Khaitan."
Here's how he introduced Lalwani, Pirzada
While sharing Lalwani's character on social media, Johar said, "Looks that will melt your heart just as easily as his smile will. Presenting Lakshya as Karan in Bedhadak. Directed by the maestro of emotions, Shashank Khaitan." About Pirzada, Johar had this to write: "His brooding good looks will have you smitten in no time! Watch Angad's character come alive in #Bedhadak."
Film was announced last March
To recall, the film was announced way back in March last year when Johar shared a video of Kapoor and captioned it as, "Another beautiful addition to our growing @dcatalent family! Welcome to the #DCASquad, @shanayakapoor02." To note, @dcatalent is the official Twitter handle of Dharma Cornerstone Agency (DCA, which was established in December 2020). Kapoor, Pirzada, and Lalwani are all DCA products.
