DGGI summons Shalini Passi in connection with alleged tax evasion
What's the story
Shalini Passi, who starred in Netflix's Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, has been summoned by the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI).
Per reports, Passi was summoned for questioning regarding alleged Goods and Services Tax (GST) evasion of over ₹20 crores.
The case is linked to an alleged short payment of GST by Pasco Motors LLP, where she was partner.
The summons, dated March 11, has asked Passi to record her statement and present documents on Thursday.

The summons follows an earlier one sent to Pasco Motors, Tata Motors's largest dealer, on November 28, 2024.
Passi is yet to respond; however, Pasco Motors'ss lawyer JK Mittal said they had already challenged the DGGI proceedings in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Mittal stated that the initial summons was for "non-payment" of tax, but subsequent summons allege "short-payment," implying that the DGGI had made false allegations.

He told The Times of India, "GST summons issued by the DGGI is malafide and the information of tax evasion is not mentioned in the said summons at all."
Mittal said that the state GST authorities had already verified the records and conducted an audit.
He also pointed out that the Punjab and Haryana HC has taken cognizance of the matter.
Passi had left the firm in 2021.
