The breach of privacy has sparked outrage among fans and triggered a probe by Peruvian officials. The singer was forced to postpone her concert in Peru due to a health issue.
Now, the clinic where she was treated could face a hefty fine if found guilty.

Peruvian authorities warned of hefty fines amid investigation
A spokesperson for Peru's health watchdog stated to AFP news agency that the investigation was underway. The healthcare center where Shakira was treated could be fined up to $4,30,000 if guilty.
"Yesterday (Monday) we were at the clinic, we met with the officials, they have given their explanation, which is confidential," Ruby Cubas, a spokesperson, informed AFP.
The investigation is likely to take 25 days.
Clinic's response
Delgado Clinic initiated action against those responsible
The Delgado clinic, where Shakira was treated, has also launched an investigation into what it called a "serious ethical breach of our code of conduct and regulations governing personal data processing."
In a statement, the clinic said, "We have already identified and started the sanctioning process against those proven responsible."
Notably, this incident comes as Shakira is on her first world tour in seven years.

Shakira expressed gratitude to Peruvian fans
Despite the incident, Shakira took to the stage in Lima on Monday night, thanking her "beautiful Peruvian audience!! So much love and care you've given me!!"
She will tour nearly 50 cities across Latin America until June's end, then continue with concerts in the United States and Canada.
Her tour, Las mujeres ya no lloran (Women Don't Cry Anymore), kicked off in Rio de Janeiro shortly after she won a Grammy for best Latin pop album.
