Shakira rushed to hospital due to stomach issue; concert postponed
What's the story
Colombian pop sensation Shakira has been hospitalized for an "abdominal issue," prompting the postponement of her scheduled concert in Peru.
On Monday night (IST), the 48-year-old singer took to social media to announce that she had been rushed to the emergency room and was still receiving medical care.
"I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized," she wrote.
Concert rescheduling
Shakira's team is working on rescheduling the postponed concert
Shakira was disappointed over the concert postponement, saying she was excited to take the stage and perform and entertain her fans in Peru. However, she assured them a new date would be set soon.
"I love you all, and I appreciate your understanding," she concluded in her social media post.
Despite this setback, Shakira remains hopeful about making a swift return to the stage and resuming her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour.
Tour details
Shakira's world tour and recent Grammy win
Shakira kicked off her world tour on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro. This comes after her recent Grammy win for Best Latin Pop Album.
The South American leg of her tour is set to run until March 8 before she heads to Mexico.
Despite some online debate over similarities between her tour and Beyonce's Renaissance tour, Shakira continues to enjoy immense support from fans worldwide.
Album promotion
Shakira's tour supports her latest album
Shakira's current tour is promoting her newest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. The record, which turns her much-publicized divorce into music, features the global smash Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53, and it won Best Latin Pop Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards earlier this month.
After wrapping up the Latin American portion of her tour, Shakira will perform in Canada and the US from May through June.
