SRK's 'Don 3' not being made, director Farhan Akhtar clarifies
It's been a couple of months since reports about Shah Rukh Khan preparing for the third installment of Don franchise are doing the rounds. The reports suggested that Don: The Final Chapter would be helmed by Farhan Akhtar and hit the floors this year, getting fans all excited. However, contradicting what was being reported, Farhan denied Don: The Final Chapter was being made.
'Don: The Final Chapter' was to end the popular franchise
Don: The Final Chapter, as the name suggested, would have marked the end of the popular franchise starring SRK in lead. The first film, a remake of Amitabh Bachchan's 1978 blockbuster Don, was made in 2006. The 2006 flick was followed by a sequel in 2011. To end the series in style, the makers were also apparently planning a grand climax for the film.
Movie was to hit the floors by mid-2019
"The movie will be full of action and trickery. But it all ends! And they've come up with a great climax that will have everyone stunned," a source had stated. The makers had also apparently locked a script and the movie was to hit the floors by mid-2019. However, disappointing everyone, Farhan now said that he isn't planning to direct the movie anytime soon.
His busy schedule is the reason for delay
Though this news is sad, it can't be helped, as Farhan has a really busy schedule. Last year, his production company, Excel Entertainment, collaborated with AA Films to present Kannada film, KGF, which kept him engaged. Besides, Farhan is preparing to play a boxer in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's next, Toofan. He is also working on Shonali Bose's The Sky Is Pink opposite Priyanka Chopra.
