Shahid Kapoor reveals first look from 'Deva' on Dussehra

On the occasion of Dussehra, Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor has officially announced his next film, Deva. The first glimpse of his role as a cop in the film, backed by Siddharth Roy Kapur's Roy Kapur Films and Zee Studios, was also revealed on Tuesday. The makers further announced that Deva will be released on October 11, 2024, for Vijaya Dashami.

Kapoor was last seen in Bloody Daddy (2023), a direct-to-digital film helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, before which he made his OTT series debut with Farzi, which was released in February this year. His last theatrical release was Jersey (2022). Notably, after debuting with Ishq Vishk in 2003, over the years, Kapoor has delivered many acclaimed performances, such as Haider and Udta Punjab.

Kapoor to portray cop in 'Deva'
In the picture released on Tuesday, Kapoor is seen donning a buzz cut and a beard while wearing a white shirt paired with khaki-colored pants. He is also seen holding a pistol in one hand. Kapoor is all set to play a cop in Deva, and It will be the first time that he will be essaying a police officer's role.

Soon after Kapoor's first look was dropped on social media, the actor's fans stormed the comment section with praises for him. "Shahid Kapoor with buzz cut, chain bracelet on wrist, white shirt and gun in his hand...what a fabulous combo (sic)," wrote one fan, while another said, "I am very excited for this one and also excited to see you as Cop (sic)."

More about the project
Deva will co-star Pooja Hegde as the female protagonist. It will also mark the Bollywood directorial debut of Rosshan Andrrews, a celebrated Malayalam filmmaker. "This is a script that has the potential to reach out to audiences across the entire spectrum, and with an incredible cast and crew in place, we can't wait to bring it to life," said Roy Kapur on Deva.
