Shahid Kapoor smoked nearly 20 cigarettes daily for 'Kabir Singh'
Just three days back, teaser of Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh was released, and we are still in awe. Three adjectives describe his character perfectly- an aggressive, alcoholic, but brilliant surgeon. And, now Shahid has revealed that it was one of the most challenging roles for him, the hardest part being pretending to snort drugs. He also had to smoke nearly 20 cigarettes/day for the movie.
Shahid used to shower for 2 hours before going home
We all know how dedicated Shahid is as an actor, and how he gets into the skin of every character he plays. For this role, he didn't mind taking those drags everyday. That's not all. The actor further said that he had to shower for nearly two hours post shoot to get the stench off before returning home to his family.
Shahid reminded us of Tommy Singh from 'Udta Punjab'
"It would take me nearly two hours to shower and get rid of the smells before I could return home to my children," said the 38-year-old father of two kids. Though Shahid stumped us in the teaser itself, he reminded us of Tommy Singh, a drug-addict rockstar, from Udta Punjab. In Kabir Singh, however Shahid is an ex-student of Delhi Institute of Medical Science.
Shahid lost 14kgs, and also gained 8kgs, for the film
Meanwhile, Shahid also had to undergo extreme physical transformation for this movie, as he would be playing the role of a college student and an alcoholic. Reportedly, the Shaandaar actor had put on around 8kgs for his bloated and out of shape appearance. At the same time, he also lost over 14kgs for his portrayal of a young medical student in the movie.
'Kabir Singh' is the remake of Telugu blockbuster 'Arjun Reddy'
Notably, Kabir Singh is the remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Deverakonda. Shahid has been all praises about the Telugu movie and found the lead character fascinating. "It surprised me with its tonality, rawness, simplicity and the fact that it was so real. The character is very fascinating for me as an actor because the emotional arc is very original," he added.
