Finally! Shah Rukh Khan confirms doing Sujoy Ghosh's 'King'
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has finally confirmed his role in Sujoy Ghosh's upcoming film King during the prestigious Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. The announcement came during a live session at the festival, where Khan was honored with the Pardo Alla Carriera Award for his immense contributions to cinema. SRK was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki.
Khan intends to focus on 'age-centric' roles
Khan revealed the origins of the movie. "Now, there's a certain kind of film I want to do, where, maybe it is more age-centric and I want to try something, for 6-7 years I have been thinking about it. I mentioned it to Sujoy one day and he says, 'Sir, I have a subject.' "I hear it, I spend time with them and then we just go ahead, make the film, and have lots of fun."
Khan reveals physical preparation for 'King'
During the session, Khan shared about the physical preparation required for his role in King. He said, "The next film I'm doing, King, I have to start working on my film King. Have to lose some weight a little, stretch a little so my groin doesn't get caught while doing action." "I have some wonderful guys (for stunts). But 80% you have to finally do it yourself if you have to sell it truthfully."
The film will also feature SRK's daughter Suhana Khan
King will also star Suhana Khan, Khan's daughter making her big-screen debut. Other cast members include Abhishek Bachchan in a villainous role and Munjya actor Abhay Verma in a key role. The film is expected to go on floors in November this year. Other cast members are yet to be announced by the makers.
