SRK calls Virat Kohli as 'fraternity's 'daamad'; shares humorous anecdote
In a recent interaction with Star Sports, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan expressed his affection for former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli. The actor—who co-owns the Kolkata Knight Riders—fondly referred to Kohli as the damad (son-in-law) of Bollywood, alluding to Kohli's marriage to actor Anushka Sharma. The couple has been married since 2017 and shares two children together- a daughter named Vamika (3), and a son named Akaay, born earlier in February.
'I spent a lot of time with him...just love him'
Khan spoke warmly about his relationship with the couple, stating that among all the players, he has known Kohli the longest. "I spent a lot of time with him, I just love him. We say that he is our son-in-law, he is our fraternity's daamad," adding, "I have known Virat and Anushka for a long time." "I've known him since his dating period was going on...I was shooting the film with Anushka. So, he spent many days with us."
Khan recalled teaching viral 'Pathaan' dance move to Kohli
Further, Khan humorously recounted an incident where he taught Kohli some dance moves from his 2023 movie Pathaan. "I saw him in one of the matches...he tried to dance with Ravindra Jadeja. They were trying to do that dance step, I was very sad that they are doing it so badly!" "I told them let me make you learn the steps so whenever you dance at least you will call me and ask how to do the steps."
Meanwhile, Sharma has starred opposite Khan in these films
Sharma began her Bollywood career alongside Khan in Aditya Chopra's film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008. Since then, the fan-favorite on-screen duo has collaborated on several successful projects. These include Yash Chopra's Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), Imtiaz Ali's Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017), and Aanand L Rai's Zero (2018). Their professional relationship has spanned over a decade, marking numerous milestones in Indian cinema.
Work-wise, SRK is occupied with his next, 'The King'
Meanwhile, work-wise, last year was exceptional for SRK who stormed theaters with not one but three blockbuster releases starting with Pathaan, Jawan, and finally Dunki. The films collectively grossed over ₹2,500 crore worldwide, marking them as the biggest hits of his career. Although his next project, reportedly titled The King, hasn't been officially announced, there are speculations that it will star his daughter, Suhana Khan.
