Selena Gomez doubts ever holding concerts again; here's why
Internationally acclaimed singer and actor, Selena Gomez, recently voiced her uncertainty about returning to concert tours. In a TIME cover story, she revealed that the chances of her touring again were "50/50" and unlikely to occur in the near future. Despite expressing joy in spending 90 minutes with her fans during concerts, Gomez highlighted the emotional toll touring takes on her.
Gomez's past touring experience and mental health struggles
Gomez's last concert tour took place in 2016, promoting her Revival album. However, it was partially canceled due to her battles with lupus-related anxiety and depression. The Taki Taki singer has since become more selective about how and with whom she spends her time, stating that touring often leaves her feeling surrounded by people she is paying, thus exacerbating the emotional strain.
'I love having levelheaded people around'
Despite being surrounded by supportive individuals, Gomez confessed to often feeling lonely. "I love having levelheaded people around that couldn't give two f—s about what I do." The singer emphasized the importance of embracing one's emotions without reservation, highlighting her own journey with mental health.
Gomez's current projects revolve around acting
Despite the uncertainty surrounding her future tours, Gomez has been actively involved in various projects. She recently promoted her new film Emilia Pérez at the Cannes Film Festival, where she portrays a character married to a retired drug cartel leader. Additionally, filming for the next season of Hulu's popular series Only Murders in the Building has commenced. Fans are also eagerly awaiting her potential return as Alex Russo in a revival of Wizards of Waverly Place.
