Diddy accused of drugging and raping man in 2022
What's the story
Music mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs is facing a new lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a man in 2022.
The plaintiff (John Doe) filed the suit anonymously through attorney Tony Buzbee on Monday (US time).
In the New York County Supreme Court filing obtained by USA TODAY, Doe alleges he was "drugged and forcefully raped" by Combs.
This is yet another lawsuit added to the growing cases against the incarcerated musician.
Incident details
Alleged assault occurred after LA nightclub encounter
The lawsuit claims the alleged assault took place after Doe was scouted while busking outside a popular Los Angeles nightclub in November 2022.
A young musician at the time, Doe claims he was invited to an "exclusive A-list birthday party" at a private home by one of Combs's associates.
At the party, he met Combs, who allegedly served him a drugged drink and promised him a major recording contract.
Abuse claims
Doe alleges Combs used power and notoriety to silence him
Further, Doe claims that while incapacitated by the drugs, he was forced to perform oral sex before being raped by Combs.
The suit states: "Because of Combs's power and notoriety, and because he was shocked and embarrassed, Doe did not report what had happened."
Now seeking a jury trial, Doe is demanding compensatory damages for physical injuries, emotional distress, psychological harm, etc. The amount will be determined at trial.
Defense stance
Combs's attorneys dismiss allegations as 'publicity stunt'
In response to the lawsuit, Combs's attorneys have dismissed the allegations.
They said, "As we've said before, Mr. Combs cannot respond to every new publicity stunt, even in response to claims that are facially ridiculous or demonstrably false."
The statement added that they are confident in the judicial process and the truth will prevail in court: "Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor."
Combs is set to go on trial on May 5.
