SC quashes criminal proceedings against Priya Prakash for 'wink' song
In a huge respite to the wink sensation Priya Prakash Varrier, the Supreme Court of India has stayed all the criminal proceedings against the 'Oru Adaar Love' actress. Several FIRs were filed against her and director Omar Lulu as their song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi' was claimed to be hurting the sentiments of Muslims.

Priya had filed a petition in the Supreme Court
The 19-year-old actress moved the apex court on Monday seeking a stay on the FIRs filed against her in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Aurangabad. The court agreed to an urgent hearing of her petition and quashed all criminal proceedings against her till further hearing.
Objections were raised over the lyrics of 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi'
Soon after it became an Internet sensation, the song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi' found itself mired in a controversy. Several Muslim groups alleged that the lyrics are hurting their sentiments. They then registered an FIR against Priya and Omar demanding a complete ban on the 'Oru Adaar Love' song. The song has notched up a record 34 million views till yet.
