Sathyaraj to play 'villain' in Salman Khan's 'Sikandar': Report
Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who missed an Eid release this year, announced his exciting plans for the next Eid with the forthcoming action thriller, Sikandar. The film is a collaboration with AR Murugadoss and is set to begin filming in June. Fans are eagerly anticipating the reveal of the villain's role, which according to producer Chithra Laksmanan, will be played by Baahubali's Kattappa, South actor Sathyaraj.
Is Sathyaraj a new addition in 'Sikandar'?
In an interview, cited by Pinkvilla, Laksmanan disclosed that Sathyaraj will be the antagonist in Khan's Sikandar. For those unaware, Laksmanan is a renowned journalist turned producer, director, and actor, who has an impressive portfolio working with several South Indian cinema legends such as Sivaji, Vijayakanth, and Prabhu, among others. However, it has yet to be confirmed by the makers if Sathyaraj will indeed be playing the villain in Sikandar.
Earlier, Rashmika Mandanna joined 'Sikandar' cast
Rashmika Mandanna has been cast as the female lead in Sikandar, opposite Khan. She will reportedly have an "author-backed role" and the film has a "strong story that results in an outflow of drama and emotions." This film marks the much-awaited return of director Murugadoss to Hindi cinema after an eight-year hiatus since his last film, Akira (2016). It also signifies a reunion for Khan with producer Sajid Nadiadwala, a collaboration that has previously resulted in blockbuster hits.
Meanwhile, Khan prepares for action sequences
Khan has already begun preparations for the action sequences in the upcoming film. These scenes are currently being fine-tuned by action directors. A source closer to the project revealed to Mid-Day, "Salman insists on doing action himself. He has modified his workout regimen to develop a chiseled physique." The 58-year-old actor is reportedly focusing on enhancing his agility and movement abilities for the film.
Film's shooting schedule, locations revealed
The film is scheduled to start shooting in June across three distinct locations: Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Europe. Specific details about the exact scheduling and locations remain undisclosed. Murugadoss plans to focus on filming the majority of action sequences first. Currently, the director is involved in the production of a Tamil actioner, tentatively titled SK23, starring actor Sivakarthikeyan. With a reported budget of ₹400cr, the film is being touted as Nadiadwala's most ambitious project to date.
