Oscars 2025: Saoirse Ronan could become youngest double-acting nominee!
Saoirse Ronan, the four-time Oscar-nominated Hollywood actor, is all set for a competitive Academy Awards season with two performances that could potentially earn her top honors. According to Variety, Ronan will be contending in both the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories for her roles in The Outrun and Blitz respectively. If she secures a double nomination, she would become the youngest actor to achieve this feat!
Ronan's potential double nomination: A rare feat
A double nomination is a rare achievement, with only 12 actors having accomplished this feat in the history of the Oscars. Of these, seven have won for one of their nominated roles. If Ronan secures a double nomination, she would be the 13th actor to do so, per Variety.
Ronan's roles in 'The Outrun' and 'Blitz'
In The Outrun, a Sundance hit, Ronan plays Rona, a recovering addict seeking solace in the remote Orkney Islands. This emotionally intense role is based on Amy Liptrot's memoir, co-written by Liptrot and Nora Fingscheidt. On the other hand, Blitz features Ronan as Rita, a mother striving to reunite with her son during World War II. This film is set to premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.
Ronan's previous Oscar nominations and potential record
Ronan, at just 30 years old, has already earned four Oscar nominations for her performances in Atonement (2007), Brooklyn (2015), Lady Bird (2017), and Little Women (2019). If she secures nominations for both The Outrun and Blitz, she would surpass Kate Winslet's record of being the youngest actor to receive five or six nominations. Winslet achieved this at the ages of 31 and 34.
