Sanjay Dutt gifts apartments to wife Maanayata. She returns them
Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt gifted four flats worth nearly Rs. 100 crore located in the posh Bandra suburb of Mumbai to his wife Maanyata in December last year. However, she returned the lavish gift within just one week, documents reviewed by Moneycontrol have revealed. Here are more details on this interesting turn of events.
The flats are situated in Pali Hill area
The apartments are situated in the Imperial Heights building in Pali Hill area, which is home to many big names from the film industry. As per the gift deed, the circle rate or the value determined by the government is Rs. 26.5 crore, but brokers claim that the market value of the units is more than Rs. 100 crore, the report states.
Maanayata returned the flats due to tax-related issues
It is being said that Maanayata returned the flats due to tax-related issues. The first gift deed was executed by Dutt on December 23, 2020 and Maanayata gifted the apartments back to Dutt on December 29, 2020. The properties were reportedly built on a land owned by Dutt's father, late actor and politician Sunil Dutt.
Dutt-Maanayata love story
For the unversed, Dutt was married twice before settling down with Maanayata. The couple is parents to twins - Shahraan and Iqra. After seeing each other for two years, Dutt and Maanayata had tied the knot in Goa in 2008. He has a daughter, Trishala Dutt, with his first wife Richa Sharma who passed due to a tumor in 1996.
Dutt has had a tumultuous life
Dutt spent more than two decades being in and out of prison in an illegal arms case, before being released in 2016. His life was brought to the big screen by filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani in the 2018 blockbuster Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor. In August 2020, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. In October 2020, he announced that he has recovered from the disease.
What is Dutt doing on the work front?
Dutt was last seen in Sadak 2, directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The movie was a sequel to the 1991 hit Sadak, which starred him with Pooja Bhatt. However, the sequel received poor reviews. He will next be seen in Yash Raj Films' Shamshera alongside Ranbir Kapoor. The film was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic and its release date has not been announced yet.
