14 nominations later, Sandra Oh finally wins Emmy
Renowned TV actor Sandra Oh, celebrated for her roles in Grey's Anatomy and Killing Eve, has finally clinched her first Emmy Award. The victory comes after an impressive 14 nominations throughout her career. The award was bestowed upon her at the Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday for producing the Hulu film Quiz Lady. Unfortunately, Oh was not present to receive her award in person.
'Quiz Lady' co-stars and producers surprised by Oh's win
Awkwafina, a co-star and producer of Quiz Lady, along with the film's writer-producer Jen D'Angelo, were taken aback to discover that this was Oh's first Emmy win. Their surprise was evident when a reporter informed them backstage at the event. Unfortunately, due to her location in Canada, Oh was unable to witness the film—about a game-show-obsessed woman and her estranged sister working together to cover their mother's gambling debts—win the final prize on Night 2 of the Creative Arts Emmys.
'Quiz Lady's journey: From TIFF premiere to Emmy triumph
Quiz Lady, which also features Will Ferrell, Holland Taylor, and Jason Schwartzman, had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year. The film was later acquired by Hulu and released in November. Reflecting on the film's journey, D'Angelo said after Sunday's show: "We were all so proud that the movie got in there and was able to screen there... We've gone through a lot of stuff."

D'Angelo added, "We shot during COVID, we premiered during the strike, and we just sort of like kept going. We were the original comedy that could and it's just been so wonderful to be able to share it with the world and to be able to have nights like tonight to celebrate it."
