Samantha wasn't original choice for 'Oo Antava Mawa' in 'Pushpa'
What's the story
Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Oo Antava Mawa from the blockbuster Pushpa Part 1 was an instant chartbuster.
However, it has now been revealed that she wasn't the first choice for this popular number.
Mythri Movie Makers producer Ravi Shankar disclosed at the pre-release event of Robinhood that Ketika Sharma was first approached for the song.
Song's success
'Oo Antava Mawa' was a multi-language release
The song Oo Antava Mawa, composed by Devi Sri Prasad with lyrics penned by Chandrabose, was sung by Indravathi Chauhan.
It appears in the film after the protagonist successfully transports sandalwood without getting caught by the police.
The song was released in multiple languages and its hook step went viral.
According to a 123Telugu report, Shankar claimed that they first considered Sharma for the song, but things didn't work out, leading them to bring the Citadel actor on board.
Criticism
Controversy surrounded Sharma's recent dance project
Sharma, who recently featured in Adhi Dha Surprisu for Robinhood, has come under fire for the song's lyrics and dance steps. The choreography was called "vulgar" by some, and they even asked choreographer Shekar Master to retire.
Critics claimed the video objectifies women and should be banned. Despite this row, Sharma and cricketer-actor David Warner performed together at the movie's event.
Upcoming releases
'Robinhood' and 'Rakt Brahmand' are Sharma and Prabhu's upcoming projects
Nithiin plays a modern-day Robin Hood in Robinhood. The film is helmed by Venky Kudumula and also stars Shine Tom Chacko, Vennela Kishore, and Rajendra Prasad.
Warner also makes his debut in Indian cinema with a cameo. The film releases on Friday.
Meanwhile, Prabhu is working on a web series, Rakt Brahmand, and the action thriller Maa Inti Bangaram, where she also debuts as a producer.
