Samantha Ruth Prabhu signed for Vijay Deverakonda, Shiva Nirvana's next?
Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda, who has signed a film with Shiva Nirvana, has found his leading lady in Samantha Ruth Prabhu, said reports. The film has been in the news for a long time now but there has been no official confirmation on any development related to it till date. For now, Deverakonda is awaiting the release of his big-budget Bollywood debut Liger.
Why does this story matter?
Deverakonda's last romantic film that performed well at the box office was Dear Comrade, which released in 2019. So, as far as that genre is concerned, the young actor needs a project with good content. Separately, he had last collaborated with Ruth Prabhu in the Telugu blockbuster Mahanati, so it will definitely be a treat to see them come together on celluloid again.
Here's what we know of the upcoming film
Reportedly, the upcoming and untitled film will be based on the 1992 Tamil romantic thriller Roja. Nirvana has reworked on the script to make it appealing for the present generation but the movie will have 60% of Roja in it. Earlier, makers had thought of bringing Bollywood actor Kiara Advani aboard, but due to date issues, Nirvana's Majili female lead Ruth Prabhu was finalized.
Project facing numerous rumors even before launch
Like Roja, this film will also be set in Kashmir. Earlier reports had suggested that Deverakonda had opted out of the film since he was not satisfied with the script and also because Liger was taking too long to get finished. Then, Naga Chaitanya, the male lead of Majili, had stepped in. Now again, rumors are rife that Deverakonda is back in the cast.
Other projects of Deverakonda, Ruth Prabhu
As mentioned before, Deverakonda will next be seen in sports drama Liger, directed by ace filmmaker Puri Jagannadh. The film is gearing up for a theatrical release on August 25 this year. On the other hand, Ruth Prabhu has several interesting projects in her pipeline including Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, mythological drama Shaakuntalam, and Yashoda. Yashoda is being directed by debutant duo Hari-Harish.
