On Monday, it was reported that one of the shooters has been identified as Vishal Rahul, a notorious criminal from Gurugram, Haryana. Known for his association with gangster Rohit Godara, Rahul is also linked to the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

On Sunday, following the shooting, Anmol Bishnoi, brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the act on social media. Anmol's Hindi post roughly translated to, "We desire peace, but if the decision against injustice is through war, then so be it. Salman, we fired at your house to show you a trailer so you understand our strength and do not test us. This is our first and final warning." "After this, bullets won't miss your empty house."
