Salman requests to not increase Bharat's ticket-prices, multiplexes ignore it
There is always a lot of buzz around a Salman Khan film. Because of this "star factor," cinema houses often hike the prices for tickets of his films. However, this time around, the actor reportedly requested cinema owners to not increase the ticket prices of his latest outing, Bharat. But apparently, multiplexes didn't pay heed to bhai's request. Here's more on this.
In fact, cinemas have hiked 'Bharat' ticket prices by 20%
Despite the fact that Salman urged cinema owners to not raise ticket prices for his upcoming Eid flick, so that more and more people could go and watch the film, many multiplexes in Mumbai have already hiked the prices by as much as 20 percent.
Why the price rise?
When a film is expected to witness huge crowds, cinema owners often raise movie ticket prices to cash in on the opportunity, and enjoy greater returns. Reasons for greater crowds could be popular stars, long weekend, festive season release, et al. In Bharat's case, there's Salman, plus it's an Eid release, and has a five-day weekend. Thus, the price rise by multiplexes is natural.
Earlier, Priyanka walked out of film in 'nick' of time
Bharat has been in the news cycle for a long time now. One of the main reasons for this was the controversial last-minute exit of Priyanka Chopra from the film. She walked out of the project, citing "personal reasons." Later, Katrina Kaif was roped in for the role. Recently, in a media interaction, man-child Salman termed Priyanka's exit from film, "embarrassing."
'Bharat' is set to release on Eid, this month
The much-awaited Bharat is an upcoming period-drama film written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The ensemble cast includes Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Tabu, Disha Patani and Jackie Shroff. Based on the South Korean film, Ode To My Father (2014), Bharat traces the life of a man in the backdrop of Indian independence and post-Independence history. The film releases on June 5, 2019.
