'Loveratri' to 'Loveyatri', but Hindu-outfit still displeased with Salman's production
Aayush Sharma's debut movie 'Loveyatri' has become controversy's favorite child. Just a day after Salman Khan changed the name from 'Loveratri' to 'Loveyatri', the new title has stirred another controversy. Reportedly, a Hindu group has raised an objection over the title and approached Gujarat High Court, saying it is unacceptable as it still sounds similar to Navratri and hence, offends their religious sentiments.
Petitioner demands another change in title
The petitioner's lawyer, while submitting the PIL, told the court that the title can be changed to 'Love Ki Yatra' given the tagline of the movie is 'journey of love'. The title has already undergone a change once lately. While the defense lawyer did term the allegations as immature, he also mentioned that 'Loveyatri' is yet to be certified from the Censor Board.
'Loveyatri' will have a bad impact on public: PIL claims
As 'Loveyatri' is set against the backdrop of Navratri, the Hindu group, in their PIL, said that it will offend their religious sentiments. The PIL also claimed that the movie will have a bad impact on youngsters as it promotes intimacy. It also alleged that not the just the original title but the trailer also featured certain offensive dialogues which needed to be removed.
Makers need to seek instructions regarding the content of 'Loveyatri'
The defense lawyer's statement backfired as the division bench of Justices R Subhash Reddy and V M Pancholi questioned how the promos were released without certification. The bench further instructed that makers are required to seek instructions regarding the content of 'Loveyatri'. They also mentioned that the bench might watch the movie if required. The release date of 'Loveyatri' is October 5.
