It's confirmed! Salman Khan will be hosting Bigg Boss 12
Salman fans can rejoice as the actor will return sometime mid-September to host the new season of 'Bigg Boss', reports confirmed. The show, which usually begins airing a new season in October, has been slightly shifted and preparations are underway. Khan has given dates for shooting the promos in August and the house is being recreated in Lonavala. The finale will be in December.
11 seasons (and counting) show Bigg Boss' popularity
Over the years, 'Bigg Boss' has managed to retain its audience, despite deteriorating content. The show has seen several hosts, including Amitabh Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, Farah Khan, Sanjay Dutt, etc., but it achieved highest audience outreach in the seasons hosted by Salman Khan. For the last two seasons, the doors of the house were opened for commoners along with celebrities.
What's Bigg Boss without Salman? A bland show
Salman succeeded Amitabh as the host of the show which worked wonders for Bigg Boss' TRPs. The fourth season of the show, which was hosted by Salman for the first time, broke all previous records. His star power has attracted higher TRP ratings, and it was evident when Farah Khan took over the spin-off and ratings fell.
Even Salman recognizes how important he is
"Every year I've said that I don't want to do the show again this year, but these Colors people don't agree with it because they don't get TRP without me," Salman had said once, when asked about returning as the show's host.
Salman is an entertaining host, but are participants good?
Unfortunately, Salman Khan's wit isn't helping better the controversial show. The behavior of inmates irks the superstar who seems to be losing his calm and engaging in crass verbal exchanges more often. Remember how Swami Om behaved throughout Season 10? Or how Shilpa Shinde irritated Vikas Gupta last season? With the quality worsening, is Bigg Boss really what Indian television needs?
