'Tiger 3' gets release date, targets Eid 2023 theatrical outing
After Pathaan, Prithviraj, and Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Yash Raj Films has now announced the release date of another much-awaited venture, Tiger 3. Starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and possibly Emraan Hashmi as the main antagonist, Tiger 3, an espionage action thriller, is slated to hit theaters on April 21, 2023, targeting the occasion of Eid, Khan's go-to date for releasing his big-budget ventures.
What do we know of the announcement?
The announcement was made via a video. The clip, lasting 1:09 minutes, is set in an underground room. It starts with Kaif, who is seen practicing knife fighting skills under the supervision of experts. Soon, the clip veers to a man sleeping on a bench. His face is covered with a black and white checkered towel, a signature of Khan's character, Tiger.
What does the video show?
After Kaif's Zoya finishes her training, she approaches Tiger and asks, "Ready?" to which he replies with his usual swag, "Tiger is always ready." The screen then goes on to show the release date and a while later, Khan says, "Aa rahe hain (we are coming)." The video retains the earmarked tune of the Tiger franchise as its background score. Directed by Maneesh Sharma (Band Baaja Baaraat, Shuddh Desi Romance), the film's script has reportedly been written by producer Aditya Chopra and National Film Award-winning screenwriter Shridhar Raghavan. This is the fifth installment of the YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), and Pathaan (2023). Notably, Tiger 3 is Khan's 12th film to get an Eid release.
On Thursday, another Khan-starrer got a release date
The release date announcement of Tiger 3 comes a day after another Khan-starrer got a premiere date. On Thursday, the team behind Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali took to social media to announce the family drama will hit theaters on December 30 this year. So, this means you will be able to celebrate both New Year 2023 and Eid 2023 with the superstar. Enjoy, people!
