Salman firing case: Shooters were promised ₹4L by Anmol Bishnoi
Last Sunday, India woke up to the news of firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence Galaxy Apartments in Bandra. Soon after, police apprehended two suspects, Sagar Pal (21) and Vicky Gupta (24). Now, the duo has reportedly revealed they were promised ₹4 lakh by Anmol Bishnoi for the act. Bishnoi, who is reportedly abroad, is the brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is at war with Khan following the alleged 1998 Blackbuck shooting case.
Investigation progresses: Suspects arrested, more teams dispatched
The suspects were arrested after they activated their phones to communicate with Bishnoi following the shooting. According to News 18, Bishnoi had already advanced them ₹1 lakh with an additional ₹3 lakh promised upon completion of the shooting. Currently, crime branch's four teams have been dispatched to New Delhi, Bihar, Gujarat, and Rajasthan to further investigate the case. A look-out circular has also been issued for Bishnoi.
Additional suspect detained, connection to Bishnoi suspected
PTI also reported a new development in the case with the detention of another individual from Haryana. This man is believed to be related to one of the arrested suspects and was reportedly in constant communication with them before and after the incident. The police suspect he was also acting under instructions from Bishnoi. The investigating officers are trying to locate the weapons supplier, too.
The planning and details of the shooting incident
The Mumbai Crime Branch disclosed that five rounds were fired by Gupta and Pal outside Khan's residence. The pair had reportedly surveyed the actor's house three times before executing their plan. Post-incident, they left Mumbai and were later apprehended in the Bhuj district of Gujarat. The police also shared that the motive was to "scare" Khan and not "murder" him. Fortunately, no casualties were reported after the incident.
Suspects granted police custody; Bishnoi claimed responsibility
The court has granted police custody of Gupta and Pal until April 25 for further questioning to uncover conspiracy details. Hours after the attack, Bishnoi claimed responsibility on social media, issuing a warning to Khan and threatening that this was merely a "trailer." "Salman, we fired at your house to show you a trailer so you understand our strength and do not test us. This is our first and final warning." "After this, bullets won't miss your empty house."
Meanwhile, the Khan family remains unfazed
After the dreadful incident, Khan's father-writer Salim Khan spoke to a media portal and said, "What's there to talk about ye jaahil log jo kehte hain maar denge tab pata lagega na (These illiterate people say you'll learn your lesson when we'll kill you)." The actor, meanwhile, is unfazed and will begin shooting for his next project Sikandar in May; the project is slated for release on Eid next year.
