Is Salman-Bhansali's next titled 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2'?
It was in 1999 when Sanjay Leela Bhansali came up with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam starring Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Aishwarya Rai. An evergreen love story, the movie became a cult classic over time. Now after 20 years, they are collaborating once again for another love story and, reportedly, the movie will be titled Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2. Here's more.
Movie to not be 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' sequel
Ever since Salman-Bhansali's reunion was announced, there were speculations that it would be a sequel to Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. However, according to a report by DNA, it will neither be a sequel nor a remake of HDDCS. "Sanjay is penning the script. Though the film isn't a sequel or a remake, it may be called Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2," it stated.
Why the name 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2'?
The report further suggested that Bhansali is planning to name the new movie as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2 as it will have all the elements of HDDCS. However, the new movie will have a different story and new characters in it. "An A-list heroine will be cast opposite Salman, but the makers haven't approached anyone as yet," a source was quoted saying.
Bhansali needs a break from Ranveer-Deepika pairing, costume drama
A Bollywood Hungama report also suggests that Bhansali wrote this script with Salman in mind. "He would have made this particular subject only with Salman, or not at all. Moreover, after Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, Bhansali needs a break from the costume drama and the Ranveer-Deepika pairing," the report stated. It also emphasized that the movie will be a contemporary love story.
Salman gearing up for his first release of 2019
Currently, Salman is busy wrapping up his home production Bharat which is slated to release on Eid this year. The movie is said to be based on South Korean movie An Ode To My Father and will mark Salman's first release of 2019.
