Salim-Javed are ready to reunite after 40yrs—but under one condition
The iconic Bollywood scriptwriting duo of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, popularly known as Salim-Javed, are set to collaborate once again for a new film. This exciting announcement was made by Akhtar during the trailer launch of their upcoming three-part docu-series Angry Young Men which will chronicle their journey in the film industry. The series is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 20.
'We are going to write now,' said Akhtar
Akhtar confirmed that he and Khan have agreed to work together once again. He said, "Now let me tell you that we are going to write now. I have spoken to him, ek aur picture likhte hai saath mein (we are ready to write another film again)." He also hinted at their high price tag, adding, "Back in the day, we quoted a high price. Today also we will charge a high price. So, filmmakers, you decide."
Salim-Javed's impressive filmography
The Salim-Javed duo has an impressive track record with 24 films under their belt, 22 of which were blockbusters. Their notable works include iconic films like Amitabh Bachchan-led Sholay, Don, Zanjeer, Deewar, alongside hits like Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Haathi Mere Saathi, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Trishul. They were instrumental in establishing Bachchan's image as the "Angry Young Man" in the 1970s—an homage that seems to be reflected in their upcoming docu-series.
