Sajid Nadiadwala to enter OTT space with ₹100cr investment: Report
Renowned film producer Sajid Nadiadwala's production company, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, has joined forces with Banijay Asia to co-produce a variety of content including films and web and television series. This partnership marks Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment's first foray into the TV and digital space. The two companies plan to jointly invest heavily, a staggering ₹100cr in these projects, according to The Economic Times. There's a lot in store.
Aim is to 'bring biggest international adaptations to India'
On this venture, Nadiadwala said, "We thought it was time that we both came together to unlock a fresh perspective on storytelling. We will be delivering content across genres, across screens, and boundaries." Deepak Dhar, CEO of Banijay Asia, said that the collaboration will involve "bringing some of the biggest international adaptations to India combined with a robust slate of original IPs." However, he clarified that the number of projects they'll produce is yet to be decided.
Nadiadwala, Banijay may opt for remakes of popular Western shows
Banijay Asia is known for producing shows like Bigg Boss, Temptation Island featuring Mouni Roy, Kajol's The Trial, Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor starrer hit show The Night Manager, and Call My Agent: Bollywood. Interestingly, all of these shows are adaptations from foreign shows. Given this track record, it is expected that the Nadiadwala-Banijay association may also opt for remakes of popular Western shows.
