After Salman's 'Race 3' debacle, Saif to lead 'Race 4'?
In 2018, makers of Race franchise disappointed fans with their third installment. Starring Salman Khan, Race 3 was a disaster and was highly criticized by the audience. The makers were also slammed for replacing Saif Ali Khan as the lead. Looks like the criticism didn't go unheard as the makers are planning to bring back Saif in Race 4. Here are the details.
First two installments of 'Race' were a huge success
Notably, the Race franchise started in 2008 and the movie was a runaway success at the box office. Starring Saif in the lead, the edgy story managed to impress the audience. Subsequently, the second installment, which released in 2013, witnessed even bigger success in terms of box office numbers. Interestingly, Saif's role as Ranvir in both the movies won him applauds from the audience.
'Race 3' killed the franchise. Quite literally!
Given the tremendous success of first two installments, hopes were high from Race 3. Besides, with Salman playing a negative role, the curiosity among the audience was unbeatable. But Race 3 left everyone heartbroken. Although the movie managed to enter Rs. 100 crore club, it was trolled mercilessly on social media. In fact, the dialogues from the movie were used as memes by netizens.
Saif to return to Race franchise, says report
Although it was believed that the franchise would end after the debacle, buzz claims the makers are planning the fourth installment. In fact, if the reports are to be believed, the makers will be bringing back race ka purana ghoda Saif in the lead for Race 4. While the news might cheer up the fans, an official confirmation is still awaited.
'Race 4' to be crucial for Saif's career
Well, if the reports turn out to be true, Race 4 might play an important role in reviving Saif's Bollywood career. The actor has failed to deliver a hit in over five years. His last hit movie was 2013 release Race 2. Although Saif starred in several movies (Chef, Bazaar, Kalakaandi to name a few), none of them fared well at box office.
Saif is busy with 'Sacred Games 2'
Meanwhile, Saif is busy shooting for Sacred Games 2 on Netflix. The actor was praised for his performance as Sartaj Singh in the first season and he will be reprising his role in SG2. Sacred Games 2 is helmed by Navdeep Singh.
