'Sacred Games' Season 2 teaser released. Here's what we know
It has been almost a year since Netflix dropped its Indian thriller series Sacred Games, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, and we've all been waiting for the second season to come out ever since. Fortunately, we wouldn't have to wait for much longer anymore since Netflix just released a teaser for the second season of Sacred Games. Here are all the details.
Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey join the cast
In the 26-second-long teaser, Netflix reveals the cast for Season 2. Apart from Saif Ali Khan (Inspector Sartaj Singh), Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Ganesh Gaitonde) and Pankaj Tripathi (Khanna Guruji), who were all seen in the first season, Sacred Games has brought actors Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey on-board. Reportedly, both new cast members will have "pivotal roles" to play in the second season.

Tripathi's Khanna Guruji 'pivotal' in season 2
It has been revealed that Tripathi's Guruji, Gaitonde's third 'father' who was a shadow in the first season, "plays a pivotal role in unfolding a chain of events that shape the season." A press release states, "The brand new season promises a new trail of friendship, betrayal, crime, passion, and a thrilling chase through Mumbai's underbelly with these new characters."
Gaitonde to face bigger challenges in Season 2
The press release states, "The second season picks up with Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) pursuing his relentless quest to save the city, and Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) facing bigger challenges to retain his position as the legendary kingpin of Mumbai."
My character complete departure from my past roles, says Shorey
Koechlin, who plays the role of Batya, describes herself as a fan, and said, "Season 2 promises to be much more exciting and I cannot wait for viewers to watch me in the series." Shorey says his character, Shahid Khan, is a "complete departure" from his past roles. He added, "Working on this audience-favorite show has been an absolute delight!"
Season 2 to come out later this year
Sacred Games is based on Vikram Chandra's award-winning 2006 novel of the same name. The series follows a troubled cop (Sartaj) who receives an anonymous call from a mob boss, who has been missing for 16 years, and tells him to save the city of Mumbai in 25 days. Season 2 of the series will come out later this year.
