What is CIDP?
CIDP, which stands for Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy, is a neurological disorder and is also known as chronic relapsing polyneuropathy. It is caused by damage to the myelin sheath of the peripheral nerves. The patient often suffers from weakness and impaired sensory function in arms and legs. It is common in young adults, but men are more prone to the disease than women.
