Box office: 'Ruslaan' sees box office decline on eighth day
The Bollywood film Ruslaan, directed by Karan Lalit Butani and produced by KK Radhamohan, has hit the skids. It experienced a significant drop in box office earnings on its eighth day in theaters. Despite a star-studded cast including Jagapathi Babu, Vidya Malvade, Sushrii Shreya Mishraa, and Aayush Sharma, the film has only managed to earn just over ₹4cr during its initial eight-day run. The eighth-day earnings were particularly disappointing at ₹0.07cr.
Audience interest in 'Ruslaan' has dipped significantly
Per trade tracker website Sacnilk, the Hindi-speaking audience's interest in the movie plummeted to a mere 5.24% on Friday. The film's viewership for morning shows was at a shocking low at 4.06%, slightly increasing to 6.41% for afternoon screenings. However, the turnout for evening and night shows unfortunately dropped to zero, indicating a significant decrease in audience engagement with the film.
'Ruslaan' plot overview: A tale of terrorism and redemption
Ruslaan narrates the gripping tale of Sharma's eponymous character, who portrays the son of a terrorist. After being shot in a confrontation in 2004 and subsequently orphaned, he is adopted by Major Sameer (Babu) and his wife. The plot intensifies as Ruslaan collaborates with Agent Vaani (Mishraa) to safeguard India from a dangerous coalition determined to wreak havoc.
Sharma on the discouraging performance of the film
Earlier, while talking to Zoom, Sharma had reflected upon the film's disappointing revenue. He said, "It is disheartening, I won't deny, but I am somewhat grateful to have done my best. I believe in putting my sweat and tears into a film." "I hope the audience sees the earnest hard work behind the film and support the film but if not, I take it as God's decision to make me fight another round."
Sharma has high hopes for his future
In the same interview, he said, "Getting a movie like Ruslaan was a big deal for me. At least somebody trusted my work and gave me an opportunity to work in a movie minus the family name." He is hopeful that post-Ruslaan, he will collaborate with more directors and producers. Notably, Sharma is married to Salman Khan's sister Arpita Khan Sharma.
