    What's the story

Anupamaa star Rupali Ganguly has been embroiled in a defamation lawsuit with her stepdaughter Esha Verma.

The legal battle started after Verma accused Ganguly of "physically, mentally, verbally, and emotionally" abusing her and her mother. The actor then filed a ₹50cr defamation case against Verma.

Now, Ganguly's lawyer Sana Raees Khan has revealed that they have got interim relief from the court in the matter.

    Legal victory

    'It's a relief and such a victory'

Khan, who shot to fame as a contestant on Bigg Boss Season 17, was pleased with the court's verdict.

She told Times Now, "Presently, we are very happy with the order we have got. It's a relief and such a victory."

She said Ganguly's image was sullied by Verma's allegations but praised the actor for standing up for herself with dignity.

    Case progress

No plans for settlement or discussion with Verma

When asked if Ganguly was thinking of settling the case or starting a one-on-one discussion with Verma, Khan denied any such plans.

She said, "No, no. Right now, no such thing is there."

The controversy erupted after an old post by Verma went viral where she accused Ganguly of physically abusing her and stealing her mother's jewelry.

    Allegations and response

Verma's allegations and subsequent legal action

Verma also accused her father, Ashwin K Verma, of abusive behavior and alleged that Ashwin and Ganguly had an affair while still married to her mother.

In response to the accusations, Ganguly filed a defamation lawsuit against her stepdaughter on November 11, seeking ₹50cr for damage to her reputation.

Khan confirmed that Verma has since deleted the defamatory posts and deactivated her X/Twitter account after the legal proceedings were initiated.

    Upcoming show

Meanwhile, Khan is preparing for her television comeback

As the case drags on, Khan is gearing up to make a return to television with a new show.

Her stint on Bigg Boss Season 17 made her a household name and her current participation in Ganguly's defamation case has once again brought her to the limelight.

With the court's interim relief, Ganguly's team continues to hope that justice will be served and the actor's reputation restored.
