Atlee reportedly cancels three films to prioritize Allu Arjun's film
What's the story
Renowned filmmaker Atlee has reportedly decided to hit the brakes on three of his films to focus on his next with Allu Arjun.
The untitled movie, a period drama, will begin production later this year and be released in theaters by 2027.
The decision to pause other projects stemmed from the fact that not much progress has been made on these films.
Project updates
Atlee's shelved projects: Details and reasons
These three projects have been shelved as per reports.
One of them was an untitled Tamil film with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, produced by Murad Khetani. It was supposed to go on floors in January but was shelved after Baby John underperformed at the box office.
Another project had Shahid Kapoor but he couldn't commit immediately and makers had to factor in his last film Deva's underperformance, too.
Third project
Veer Pahariya was to lead the third project
The third project was supposed to have Veer Pahariya in the lead role, produced by Atlee and his wife Priya Murle's company A For Apple. However, there have been no updates about the film.
Now, Atlee is concentrating entirely on the film with Arjun, with Sun Pictures producing it.
The film will see Arjun in a double role.
Strategic focus
Atlee's strategy for the upcoming film with Arjun
Atlee has decided to concentrate on his film with Arjun since other projects haven't seen any major development.
The decision is viewed as a strategic one to ensure the film's success.
The Atlee-Arjun collaboration is expected to be mutually beneficial, but we will have to see if it can break the records set by their individual previous films, which grossed more than ₹1,000 crore.
