Ajay Devgn to make digital debut with crime series 'Rudra'
Ajay Devgn is the latest star to join the OTT craze. He has been roped in for a new crime drama series, which is being backed by Disney+ Hotstar. Titled Rudra - The Edge of Darkness, it is an official adaptation of Luther, a British drama series that has noted actor Idris Elba playing the titular character. Notably, the actor's look in the drama was revealed along with the announcement. Devgn dons a black outfit and looks all serious and focused. He can be seen standing in front of a bridge. Sharing the same, Devgn wrote, "Happy to announce the crime thriller of the year Hotstar Specials Rudra - The Edge Of Darkness'. This one's going to be 'killer'."

Rudra is being produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India. The Hindi remake of Luther, the crime drama is going to be a part of Hotstar Specials. As per reports, the team will begin shooting at iconic locales of Mumbai soon. The award-winning British drama released in 2010 and went on for five series consisting of a total 20 episodes.

The Drishyam star told PTI that Rudra had a "compelling and highly intriguing story" and he "can't wait to begin this new journey." On entering digital space, he said, "The idea is to raise the bar of entertainment in India. The digital world excites me, and I am looking forward to working with Applause and BBC to bring this series to life."
Devgn called Rudra the 'greyest character you may come across'
Commenting on the role, Devgn said it is "possibly the greyest character you may come across in recent times." Despite having played police officers multiple times in the past, the Singham actor said Rudra was "more intense, complex and dark." Apart from Rudra, Devgn also joined hands with Siddharth Roy Kapur recently to bankroll satire-comedy Gobar!. The team is busy with casting right now.
