'RRR': 5 actors who rejected roles in the SS Rajamouli-directorial
Filmmaker SS Rajamouli has done it again! His latest pan-Indian release, RRR has emerged to be a perfect mass entertainer showcasing great box-office results. Apart from lead stars Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, the period film starred Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, and Ajay Devgn. But did you know this ensemble could have looked a lot different if not for at least five role rejections?
Isabelle Kaif
Morris impressed viewers with her portrayal of Jennifer, Jr. NTR's love interest in the movie. But the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama graduate wasn't the first choice; in fact, the role was initially offered to Katrina Kaif's sister, Isabelle. According to reports, the Time to Dance actor "refused" to do the film because "she wanted the script and details of the movie."
Parineeti Chopra
In a short but crucial role, Bhatt breathed life and poignance into Seetha, Charan's fiancée in the film. However, before she was confirmed to be making her Telugu debut with RRR, another Bollywood actor was speculated to be essaying the role. And, it is none other than Parineeti Chopra. While rumors were rife when Chopra was promoting Kesari, nothing was ever confirmed.
Daisy Edgar-Jones
Not only Kaif, but the role of the warm-hearted Jennifer also went to British actor Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) for a while. In fact, Edgar-Jones had begun filming for the magnificent production in 2019, before she had to cut ties with the project. Media reports say she gave some personal reasons for leaving. We'll surely hope to see her in Indian ventures soon.
Shraddha Kapoor
While Jennifer in RRR was portrayed to be a British aristocratic lady, at some point during the pre-production, her character was imagined to be that of an anglo-Indian. And, during this time, Rajamouli and co. are believed to have approached Bollywood star Shraddha Kapoor for the role. Prabhas's Saaho co-star is reported to have refused the part for conflicting shooting schedules.
Amy Jackson
The reason behind Amy Jackson's refusal is indeed different from the ones listed above. The actor was approached to star opposite Jr. NTR in the pan-Indian release after Edgar-Jones failed to complete the film. However, Jackson had to pull out owing to her pregnancy. Notably, she welcomed her son Andreas to the world with her fiancé George Panayiotou in September 2019.
