'Roohi Afzana' to arrive in theaters in March?
After the Centre allowed movie halls to operate with 100% occupancy, things have been looking good for the entertainment business. Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer Roohi Afzana, whose release was pushed due to the pandemic, is now all set to be out in the first week of March. The horror-comedy is directed by Hardik Mehta and produced by Dinesh Vijan. Here's more on this.
'Makers confident the movie will bring back audience'
A source told Pinkvilla, "It is a horror comedy on the lines of Stree and the makers are extremely confident that the film will bring back the audience to the cinema halls." "The Studio Partner, Jio, along with Dinesh have closed the terms and condition of theatrical deal with the exhibition sector and an announcement is underway very soon," the source added.
The movie was delayed due to the pandemic
To recall, theaters across the country were shut down last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The last big theatrical release was English Medium, that came out almost an year ago. Roohi Afzana is now looking to end the dry run of movies at theaters with its tentative March release. Earlier, many producers chose to release their movies on streaming platforms to avoid losses.
'Roohi Afzana': A spooky horror-comedy
The film is being touted as a spooky horror-comedy, something on the lines of the 2018 surprise hit Stree. It is said to be a part of Vijan's horror-comedy universe, and will take forward the story of Stree. Reportedly, the movie will tell the story of a ghost who abducts brides during their honeymoons. Vijan is reportedly also planning another horror movie, Bhediya.
Many movies now looking at a theatrical release
Now that the government has allowed theaters to function with full occupancy, many big-budget movies are expected to hit the theaters soon. Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty's venture, Sooryavanshi has also secured a tentative April release. Apart from that, Tiger Shroff's Heropanti 2, Kriti Sanon's MiMi and Salman Khan's Radhe: Your Most-Wanted Bhai will also soon open in cinema halls.
