Rocksteady's next game could involve a superhero group
Rocksteady Studios has provided gamers with some fabulous titles, including the critically acclaimed Arkham series of games. However, it has been three years since it released Arkham Knight in 2015 and there had been no news post that. Naturally, this led to rumours surrounding the studio's next project. The editor of Kotaku, Jason Schreier, decided to share some information and clear the air.
Nipping the rumors in the bud
Addressing the new rumours arising every week, Jason said, they were absolutely rubbish. Knowing what they are making, he did not want to spoil it for others but did confirm that the long suspected Superman or Justice League game was not being made. He said he was not 100% sure about them not making a Superman game but he did not believe the rumors.
How did the rumours take birth?
He lambasted rumours doing rounds on 4chan threads saying they were reiterations of the same rumour, which led people to believe it must be true. This was the case for the Superman game as four variants of the same rumour started circulating. Coming to Justice League, the rationale was it would make sense for Warner Bros to increase interest in the DC movie franchise.
An additional rumor doing the rounds
There had also been an additional rumour circulating that there would be a Superman and Batman game called World's Finest which would be a tag team game. However, Schreier has decried any chances of that or a standalone Batman game releasing in the near future.
What is their next game and when will we know?
Having quelled all possible rumours regarding Rocksteady's future projects, Jason announced that the next project would be a Game as a Service or GaaS involving a group of superheroes. For those unaware, GaaS is a way of monetizing games after initial sales by providing an indefinite stream of content over time. Notably, Rocksteady might announce the new game at the Game Awards, this December.
