'Daraar' duo Rishi Kapoor, Juhi Chawla to re-team for comedy
Actors Rishi Kapoor and Juhi Chawla are set to reunite for a family comedy. The untitled film will be co-produced by Sony Pictures International Productions India and MacGuffin Pictures, and will be directed by debutant Hitesh Bhatia. Kapoor and Chawla last appeared as husband-wife in 'Luck By Chance' (2009), but the film didn't focus on them. Their last full-fledged film was 'Daraar' (1996).
Rishi's last with Sony Pictures was '102 Not Out'
Set in Delhi, the production of the film has just begun. Bhatia has co-written the film with Supratik Sen. Vivek Krishnani, Managing Director, Sony Pictures Entertainment, India said they are excited to collaborate with Rishi after the success of '102 Not Out'.
When our partners brought the story, we were sold: Krishnani
"As we continue to ramp up our local production slate with a keen focus on stories that audiences have never seen before, we are extremely thrilled to get started on this family comedy," Krishnani said. He added, "The moment our partners Abhishek Chaubey and Honey Trehan (MacGuffin Pictures) brought the story to us - we were sold on the idea."
Pitch-perfect entertainer for the whole family: Trehan
While Chaubey is looking forward to work with Rishi and Juhi, Trehan, said, "I feel this is the perfect film for MacGuffin Pictures to break into the comedy/family drama genre - a pitch-perfect entertainer that the whole family can sit and watch together."
