Richa Chadha plays adult star Shakeela in next, reveals first-look
Taking to Instagram, Richa Chadha shared her first look from her upcoming biopic on the adult star Shakeela. The Indrajit Lankesh directorial will see the experimental actress portray the queen of the soft porn industry of the south. Further, Malayalam actor Rajeev Pillai will play Shakeela's love interest, Arjun, in the film which is being shot in Tirthahalli in Karnataka.

C. Shakeela Begum made her debut at 16 with RD Shekhar's softcore film 'Play Girls'. The movie released in 1994 and also starred Silk Smitha. Having led a hard life, Shakeela alleges being pushed into prostitution by her mother. Shakeela has done films in all four South Indian languages. According to Richa, "the movie traces the journey of Shakeela's younger days to her becoming a popular figure."

As it turns out, the real Shakeela admires the reel one a lot. Shakeela said Richa and her behavior was quite similar, both are courageous and 'free-thinking' individuals. Shakeela said Richa has the ability to understand the layers of the script and revealed she didn't hide anything from her. Apart from Shakeela, other projects have kept Richa busy
Besides starring in the revelatory biopic on Shakeela's life, Richa has been busy on the work front with other projects. She stars opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a comedy titled 'Ghoomketu' releasing this November. Furthermore, she has been practising a dance style for a long time for the film 'Cabaret'. She has another upcoming legal drama called 'Section 375' releasing this December.
