RGV's plan of 'real-biopic' on Sanjay Dutt upsets sister Namrata
After Ram Gopal Varma announced he will make an 'honest' biopic on Sanjay Dutt, the actor's sister Namrata has asked why the director is putting them through the pain again. Namrata, further, said if Sanjay Dutt gives approval for the movie she couldn't stop him but added the family was upset over the things that have happened. Here's more on what she said.
Why does Varma want to bring up the past: Namrata
RGV confirmed he is making a movie tentatively titled, 'Sanju: The Real Story' as he was disappointed with Rajkumar Hirani's 'Sanju' for not diving deep into Dutt's arrest and jail-time. Speaking about this, Namrata said, "It was an unfortunate episode in Sanjay's life. He has moved past it. Why is Varma bringing up the past again?" She added Varma's movies are dark.
"Even 'Sanju' brought back tough memories for family"
Namrata said it was difficult for Dutt family to watch 'Sanju' since it reminded them of dark things they witnessed. She revealed when Dutt got addicted to drugs, they knew a rehabilitation centre might help him, but during the jail episode, they were rendered helpless. "It was painful as we helplessly watched him suffer," Namrata said and added Dutt has only emerged stronger.
Further, Namrata says 'Sanju' didn't "clean" Sanjay Dutt's image
The biggest complain critics had about 'Sanju' was that it gave Dutt a clean chit. Addressing this criticism, Namrata said this was just Rajkumar Hirani's way of telling the story. "I don't think Hirani has whitewashed anything but accurately shown what has happened in Sanjay's life. Rajkumar Hirani movies make us feel good - they are about tears, laughter and drama," she said.
The collections: 'Sanju' worked like a charm at box office
Reports have it that Ranbir Kapoor starrer has earned Rs. 323.39 crore, till now. It has beaten Salman Khan's 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and is currently the fourth highest grossing Bollywood movie of all time, after 'Dangal', 'PK' and 'Tiger Zinda Hai'.
