Before 'Love & War'-'King,' revisiting SRK-Bhansali's box office clashes
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's highly anticipated film, Love & War, which was initially set for a Christmas 2025 release, has reportedly been postponed to March 20, 2026, reported Pinkvilla. This new date coincides with the grand Eid box office season. Reports suggest that Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, may face significant competition from Shah Rukh Khan's forthcoming movie, King.
'King' targets Eid 2026 release, too
Khan is planning a grand theatrical debut for his daughter Suhana Khan with the film King, directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film, which also features Abhishek Bachchan in a negative role, is also aiming for an Eid 2026 release. This release date directly clashes with Bhansali's Love & War, setting the stage for a potential box office showdown between the country's biggest actors.
Khan and Bhansali's 3rd box office battle
This isn't the first time Khan and Bhansali will battle it out at the box office. They've previously clashed with Om Shanti Om vs Saawariya and Bajirao Mastani vs Dilwale. While Khan emerged victorious in the former battle, he lost the latter. Per News18, OSO made ₹78cr, while Saawariya earned ₹21 cr; BM, on the other hand, grossed ₹255cr, while Dilwale was much behind with ₹206cr.
More about the two movies
Bhansali's film is touted to be a reimagining of Raj Kapoor's Sangam. With Kapoor playing a character with gray shades in a love triangle plot, the film appears to have all the ingredients for success and marks Bhatt's second film with Kapoor after Brahmastra. King, on the other hand, will be SRK's comeback after Dunki and also stars Abhay Verma.
