Reena Dutta's father dies, Aamir Khan visits ex-wife's home
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was seen arriving at his former wife Reena Dutta's residence on Wednesday, following the demise of her father. The actor was spotted by Zoom. Not much is known about Dutta's late father at this time. Following Khan, his mother Zeenat Hussain also visited the residence to pay her respects.
Khan and Dutta's relationship: A look back
Khan and Dutta, who tied the knot in 1986, had a tough time because of their different religious backgrounds. Dutta is Hindu, while Khan is Muslim. Her father, an Air Force officer, initially didn't approve of their relationship. The couple secretly got married while Khan was filming Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), facing a lot of opposition from their families because of their faith differences.
The couple's secret marriage and subsequent divorce
Khan was 21 when he decided to have a court marriage with Dutta. This decision shocked her family, especially her father who fell ill upon hearing the news. Despite these challenges, their marriage lasted for about 16 years before they divorced in 2002. They have two children together: Junaid Khan and Ira Khan. After the divorce, Dutta chose not to remarry.
Khan's second marriage and recent separation
In 2005, Khan tied the knot with Kiran Rao, who was his assistant director on the film Lagaan (2001). Their romance blossomed during the filming, and they welcomed their son, Azad Rao Khan, in 2011. However, in July 2021, Khan and Rao announced their separation but committed to co-parenting their son together.
