'Red, White & Royal Blue' sequel greenlit by Amazon
Following the enormous success of Red, White & Royal Blue, Amazon MGM Studios has officially approved the development of a sequel. The film adaptation of Casey McQuiston's bestseller was among the top three most-watched romantic comedies on Amazon Prime Video last year. Stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez are confirmed to return for the sequel.
Matthew Lopez and McQuiston to script sequel
Matthew López, who made his feature debut with the first film, is set to write the script for the sequel alongside McQuiston. The production team will include Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter from Berlanti Schechter Films, Michael McGrath, and López himself. McQuiston will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

Red, White & Royal Blue, released in August last year, follows Alex Claremont-Diaz (Perez), who becomes a young royal equivalent after his mother is elected President of the United States. The sequel's development was announced during a Q&A session following a screening of the film at Culver Theater. This news comes ahead of Amazon's inaugural upfront presentation scheduled for May 14.
