Reality show contestant held for raping minor girl
A 20-year-old television reality show contestant has been taken into custody by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl. The accused has been identified as Aditya Dhar, a resident of Andheri, who aspires to be a dancer. The police officials revealed that Dhar had approached the girl on social media and they met for the first time on Sunday.
Dhar mixed a sedative in her food
The officials further stated that after chatting with the girl for a while on the Internet, Dhar met her in Andheri and then took her to Nallasopara. "There, he took her to a room, where he offered her food mixed with a sedative," they said. The accused then allegedly raped her and dropped her off at an Andheri eatery.
The girl was found in a semi-conscious state
After she regained consciousness on Monday, she contacted her father with the help of a local. Her father had registered a case of kidnapping with the DN Nagar Police. She was then taken to Bhabha hospital where the investigators recorded her statement following which a team of police officials tracked down the accused and put him behind the bars.
Dhar tried misleading the police but could not
"After dropping her at the eatery, the accused fled with her SIM card. In order to mislead the investigators he even deleted the WhatsApp app from her mobile phone," an officer said, adding, "He confessed to the crime after being arrested."
