Raveena Tandon's father dies at 85; actor performs last rites
Actor Raveena Tandon's father, filmmaker Ravi Tandon, breathed his last in the early hours of Friday. He was 85. She shared the sad news with her fans and followers on social media alongside some pictures of her father. Tandon, who had been suffering from lung fibrosis, reportedly died due to respiratory failure. His last rites were performed on Friday evening by Raveena in Mumbai.
Raveena accompanied by husband, brother at funeral
Pictures from Tandon's funeral showed Raveena carrying the bier and bidding her father an emotional adieu. The 47-year old actor was accompanied by her husband Anil Thadani and brother Rajiv Tandon. Several celebrities reportedly attended the funeral to pay their last respects to Tandon. Earlier on Friday, filmmakers Farah Khan and Meghna Gulzar, among others, had visited Rajiv's residence to offer their condolences.
The actor posted a heartfelt note on social media
Raveena penned an emotional note for her late father on Instagram and had also shared a few of her old pictures with him. "You will always walk with me, I will always be you, I'm never letting go. Love you papa," she captioned a post. Many celebrities, including actor Juhi Chawla, offered their condolences to Raveena in the comments section of her Instagram posts.
Who was Ravi Tandon?
Tandon was a popular Bollywood filmmaker in the 1970s and 1980s. A man of many talents, he wrote, produced, and directed several well-known Hindi films. His notable works include Anhonee (1973), Majboor (1974), Apne Rang Hazaar (1975), and Ek Main Aur Ek Tu (1986), among others. He had worked with actors like Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Jeetendra, Vinod Mehra, and Shashi Kapoor.
Raveena will be next seen in 'KGF: Chapter 2', 'Aranyak'
On the work front, Raveena will be next seen in Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2, set to release in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi in April. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the sequel to KGF: Chapter 1 (2018) also stars Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Avinash, Srinidhi Shetty, and Prakash Raj. Raveena will also be seen in the upcoming second season of Netflix's Aranyak.
