Rashmika Mandanna resumes 'Thama' shoot after injury break
What's the story
The production of Thama, a vampire comedy headlined by Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, has resumed after an unforeseen break due to Mandanna's leg injury.
The shooting was suddenly halted in Delhi in January when the actor got injured. After a hiatus of more than a month, director Aditya Sarpotdar resumed filming in Mumbai last week.
Schedule adjustment
'Thama' team accelerates production to compensate for delay
To compensate for the lost time, the Thama team has fast-tracked its production schedule.
Earlier, the plan was for a continuous shoot from January, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui joining in February. But with Mandanna's injury, this plan had to be revised.
A source revealed to Mid-Day that lead actors are currently filming at real locations in Mumbai and will shift to Film City on March 27, where sets replicating Delhi's houses and streets have been constructed.
Production plan
'Thama' aims for Diwali release, final shoot in Ooty
The sequences originally intended for Delhi will now be filmed at Film City, with Siddiqui joining the cast. The director is eyeing a Diwali release.
After completing the Mumbai leg by late April, the unit will move to Ooty in May to shoot necessary segments in the Nilgiri forest and conclude the project by May's end.
Plot reveal
'Thama' explores unrequited love through central character
Reports confirm that Thama, the latest installment in producer Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe, unfolds across two timelines and revolves around a strong love story.
A source shared, "Through a central character, Thama explores unrequited love. Though set in present-day Delhi where Khurrana is a historian, the narrative is laced with flashbacks that take viewers to the ancient city of Vijayanagar."
